The Melissa Flex

Two-layer medical mattress indicated for Category 2 pressure ulcers.

The Melissa Flex is a medical mattress designed to provide effective pressure redistribution in daily healthcare environments. Its foam core comprises two layers of varying densities that work together to optimize pressure distribution and enhance patient comfort. The mattress is engineered to support the prevention and therapeutic management of pressure ulcers up to and including Category 2.

Erbjuder mycket god tryckfördelning och sittfunktion

The foam core consists of two layers of carefully selected foam types. Together with our RX cover, this provides conditions for excellent pressure distribution. With a documented low pressure for protruding body parts, such as heels and shoulders, no separate heel zone is required.
The mattress has undergone fatigue testing according to standard SS 876 00 11 with good results. The mattress therefore offers a seating function with a raised back position in bed.

Tailored cover options for specialised applications.

The Melissa Flex comes with a cover from the RX series. A series of covers made from breathable, waterproof, and rustle-free 2-way stretch polyurethane fabric.
All covers feature an integrated protective zip flap.

  • RX-5 standard cover *
  • RXH-5 featuring integrated carrying handles for ease of transport.*
  • RXI-5 featuring an integrated evacuation functionality.
  • RXS-5 with elastic (for the mattress topper) *

* Available with welded seams and a water-resistant zip (-W).

STANDARD FOR OBJECTIVE EVALUATION

To obtain an objective assessment of mattresses' pressure distribution properties, RISE[1] developed a measurement method where the actual counter-pressure exerted by a mattress is measured using indenters. The measurement method is described in Swedish standard SS 876 00 13.
Melissa Flex has been tested by RISE[1] enligt mätmetod SS 876 00 13 och är tryckfördelande upp till och med sårkategori 2.

FAQ

What does it mean that Melissa Flex has a two-part core?

This means the mattress is constructed from two different types of foam with varying properties. The upper layer has been chosen for its pressure-distributing capabilities, while the lower layer provides stability and support.

No. Due to its asymmetrical layered construction and dedicated top layer for pressure redistribution, the mattress must not be flipped upside down. However, head-to-foot rotation is recommended to distribute mechanical wear and optimize long-term durability.

While the Melissa Basic features a single-layer, homogeneous foam core, the Melissa Flex incorporates a dual-layer configuration combining two distinct foam types. This multi-layer design provides enhanced immersion and optimized pressure redistribution, making the Melissa Flex indicated for the prevention and management of pressure ulcers up to and including Category 2.

The Melissa Flex is supplied with an RX series cover. This vapour-permeable and waterproof cover supports effective microclimate management while protecting the underlying foam core.
