Järven Rescue Blanket

Designed for safe, rapid and ergonomic evacuation.

The Järven Rescue Sheet is a device designed to facilitate the rapid and controlled evacuation of a patient in the event of a fire or other hazardous situations. The sheet can be operated by a single person to move the patient quickly and efficiently.
When every second counts, there is no room for compromise.

Designed to enable a safe and rapid evacuation

The fire-resistant sheet is suitable for all types of care facilities where there are beds. The sheet has been tested for fire resistance in accordance with SS 876 00 10 and is placed permanently under the care mattress, where it is secured at each corner.
To promote an ergonomic working posture and reduce the risk of work-related injuries, the Rescue Sheet is fitted with extra-long pull handles on the short sides. This design enables staff to work with a straighter back whilst moving patients.
The fastening straps are orange and fitted with Velcro for securing.
The rescue sheet glides easily on both wet and dry floor surfaces, making it easier to move patients regardless of the surface. The sheet is X-ray transparent and meets stringent fire safety requirements.

SS 876 00 39:2022 – Requirements for safe evacuation

The Swedish the standard SS 876 00 39:2022 has been developed by RISE[1] to ensure that rescue sheets and mattresses designed for evacuation purposes meet the required standards when subjected to extreme stresses.
Hospitals, care homes and public spaces should require that evacuation equipment complies with this standard in order to ensure patient safety and meet the requirements for systematic fire safety management (SBA).

What does the standard mean in practice?

In order for a product to be approved in accordance with SS 876 00 39:2022, it undergoes rigorous testing that simulates a real-life emergency situation:

  • Strength: The product is tested to ensure it can withstand heavy loads (at least 1000 N) without the material, straps or handles failing.
  • Verified glide performance: The standard stipulates that the material must have the correct level of friction to allow it to be pulled across different types of surfaces – including stairs and wet floors – with minimal effort on the part of staff.
  • Fixation: Straps and buckles are tested to ensure that the person remains in a stable and secure position throughout the transfer, even when being evacuated through narrow passages.

FAQ

Do we have to have evacuation equipment by every bed?

According to the requirements for systematic fire safety work (SBA), every organisation must be able to evacuate its premises safely. For bedridden patients, a rescue sheet placed under the mattress is an effective way of enabling evacuation in the event of a fire.

This indicates that the product has been tested by RISE under extreme conditions. The standard sets strict requirements regarding strength (to ensure that handles do not come loose), glide performance on different floor surfaces, and that the patient remains securely positioned throughout the transfer.

Not at all. The Järven Rescue Sheet is placed under the mattress and secured at the corners with thin, strong straps. It does not affect the mattress’s sinkage or contouring, nor its ability to distribute pressure.

Yes, the fabric used in our sheets has been specially selected and tested to ensure good glide performance on both dry and wet floor surfaces, as well as on stairs, which is crucial if the sprinkler system has been activated.
