Magma has been developed to actively contribute to a fire-safe healthcare environment without compromising on the patient’s need for pressure redistribution. The mattress combines a flame-retardant HR foam core with our unique LENTEX surface layer, making it a reliable choice for wards with specific safety and hygiene requirements.
Magma is constructed from a specially developed, flame-retardant HR foam core that meets some of the world’s most stringent fire safety standards. The HR foam also helps to reduce smoke production in the event of a fire compared with many other foam materials.
The LENTEX surface layer is laminated directly onto the core and is completely free of seams and zips, which reduces the risk of contamination of the foam core. The flexibility of the surface layer is also a major advantage for pressure relief, as it allows for good immersion and envelopment of the patient. The white, semi-transparent surface layer makes it easier for staff in their day-to-day work to detect dirt on the surface or hidden contamination inside the core.
STANDARD FOR OBJECTIVE evaluation
To obtain an objective assessment of the pressure-relieving properties of mattresses, RISE[1] developed a measurement method where the actual counter-pressure exerted by a mattress is measured using indenters. The measurement method is described in Swedish standard SS 876 00 13.
Lentex Magma has been tested by RISE1 in accordance with measurement method SS 876 00 13 and provides pressure relief up to and including pressure ulcer category 2.
