Waterlily

Hygiene mattress designed with environmental performance and sustainability in mind for pressure ulcer categories 1–2

Waterlily is a resilient and flexible hygiene mattress designed with a clear focus on the environment and long-term durability. The mattress combines a homogeneous core of environmentally friendly foam with the unique LENTEX surface layer, which provides excellent conditions for pressure relief and effective infection control. It is particularly suitable for organisations that prioritise products with a comprehensive life-cycle assessment and a documented low environmental impact.

Environmentally conscious pressure distribution

The mattress core consists of a carefully selected, environmentally friendly MDI foam. This homogeneous structure provides a stable and resilient sleeping surface that retains its performance over time, contributing to good overall value for money. The extremely flexible LENTEX laminate allows for good immersion and envelopment, resulting in a documented low pressure (50 mm/Hg) on protruding body parts such as heels and shoulders. Thanks to these properties, no separate heel zone is required.

The seamless surface layer eliminates zips and seams where dirt can accumulate, thereby reducing the risk of contamination of the foam core. The semi-transparent, light-coloured surface makes it easier for staff to visually inspect the mattress and quickly spot any contamination.

STANDARD FOR OBJECTIVE EVALUATION

To obtain an objective assessment of mattresses' pressure distribution properties, RISE[1] developed a measurement method where the actual counter-pressure exerted by a mattress is measured using indenters. The measurement method is described in Swedish standard SS 876 00 13.
Lentex Waterlily has been tested by RISE[1] in accordance with measurement method SS 876 00 13 and provides pressure redistribution up to and including pressure ulcer category 2.

FAQ

What makes Waterlily a good choice for the environment?

The mattress’s foam core has been specially selected for its low environmental impact, which has been verified through extensive life-cycle analyses. Furthermore, the high quality of the foam contributes to a long service life, which reduces the need for frequent replacements and thus conserves resources.

Yes, Waterlily is a resilient mattress that is particularly well suited to providing firm yet flexible support, even for heavier patients weighing up to 180 kg.

Thanks to the unique structure of the LENTEX surface layer, the cover retains up to 73% more disinfectant during cleaning compared with traditional materials. As the mattress has no seams, it can be wiped down directly on the bed, but it is also approved for automated mattress washing.
