The Melissa Basic mattress topper is an affordable, firm and durable mattress topper made from highly elastic cold foam with pressure-distributing properties, designed to assist in pressure ulcer prevention care. It is intended for use in conjunction with an existing, firm foam healthcare mattress.
To promote long-term use with retained quality, the foam core can be both flipped and rotated entirely without its good properties changing. The mattress topper also comes with a rustle-free RX cover, which can be supplied with elastic bands in the corners to effectively keep it in place, or without elastic.
The Melissa Basic mattress topper has been tested according to SS 876 00 13 to ensure good mechanical properties. The mattress is primarily intended for patients with a low to moderate risk of pressure ulcers, or as a functional surface layer. It can be used together with an existing foam medical mattress, or as a base or spacer mattress depending on the bed system's construction and needs.
The mattress is equipped with a two-way stretch hygieni-cover. This cover is designed to reduce the risk of shear, which are the forces that arise in the skin and underlying tissue when the patient is displaced against the support surface during, for example, changes in position. By combining the pressure-distributing properties of the mattress core with the elasticity of the cover, the product is intended to be used as a tool in the work to prevent pressure ulcers.
