The Melissa Parad mattress topper and junior mattress is made from highly elastic hypersoft foam with pressure-distributing properties. As a mattress topper, it has been developed to work in conjunction with a care mattress as an aid in the prevention and treatment of patients with pressure ulcers up to and including category 3.

To extend the product's lifespan and maintain its function over time, the foam core can be both flipped and rotated without its properties changing. The mattress comes with a liquid-proof and rustle-free RX cover that is fitted with elastic bands in the corners to keep the mattress in place.
The mattress topper is designed to offer good comfort and pressure relief as an aid within healthcare. It has been tested according to SS 876 00 13 to ensure good mechanical properties, which allow the user's body weight to be distributed over a larger area. The mattress is primarily intended for patients with a low to moderate risk of pressure sores, or as a functional top layer.
The even pressure distribution provides relief to particularly sensitive and protruding body parts where pressure sores often occur, such as shoulders, elbows, and heels. Because the material provides balanced relief across the entire surface of the mattress, no separate or demarcated heel zone is required, which facilitates the handling and positioning of the patient in bed.
To support the function of the mattress core, Melissa Parad is fitted with a two-way stretch, vapour-permeable and rustle-free hygiene cover. The cover’s elasticity is designed to reduce the occurrence of shear forces. Shear forces are the forces that arise in the skin and underlying tissue when a person shifts or slides against the surface, for example when changing position or when the backrest of the bed is raised. By reducing this friction, in combination with the properties of the foam core, the product acts as an effective tool for reducing the risk of tissue damage.
The cover is made of polyurethane fabric with zips on three sides to make it easier to look after the mattress on a daily basis. All the zips have a drip edge.
The cover is also available with welded seams as an option.

The mattress's construction makes it flexible for various types of use. It can be used as a supplement to an existing healthcare mattress, or as an underlay or spacer mattress depending on the bed system's structure and needs.
