Melissa Flex is a 6 cm thick mattress topper developed to reduce the risk of pressure sores up to and including category 2. Due to its specific material properties, the product is intended for use with an existing, stable foam medical mattress in healthcare environments. The mattress topper has been tested in accordance with SS 876 00 13 to ensure good mechanical properties. The mattress topper is primarily intended for patients with a low to moderate risk of pressure sores, or as a functional surface layer.
The mattress core consists of viscoelastic memory foam that moulds to the shape of the body, helping to ensure a more even distribution of weight and reducing localised pressure on the user’s skin and underlying tissue. This mechanical function is designed to provide pressure relief and support pressure ulcer prevention. To ensure long-term use whilst maintaining quality, the foam core is also symmetrically constructed. This means it can be both flipped and rotated without altering its pressure-distributing properties. By regularly changing the mattress’s orientation, the load is distributed evenly over time, which effectively extends the lifespan of the Melissa Flex.
The mattress topper comes with a rustle-free RX cover that meets healthcare sector requirements for a functional sleeping environment. To provide flexibility in bedding and use, the cover can be supplied in two different designs: either equipped with elastic bands in the corners to secure the mattress topper to the underlay, or in an alternative design entirely without elastic bands.
