Air1 provides responsive and dynamic pressure adjustment across the entire surface of the mattress, resulting in even and effective pressure distribution.
OptiCell Air1 provides the patient with a high level of comfort and reduces the risk of pressure ulcers. A key feature in achieving this is the Air1’s interconnected air cells. These are completely foam-free and designed to provide consistent and reliable pressure relief over time. The closed-loop air system enables air to be automatically and immediately redistributed from areas under pressure to those under less load. Another major advantage of a closed-loop air system is that you can easily monitor and adjust the air pressure in the cells. This ability to customise the mattress is important for both comfort and therapeutic benefits.
The sealed air system is also a key advantage from a hygiene perspective, as it does not allow air to escape from the mattress. This reduces the risk of airborne particles and bacteria, which may have accumulated inside the mattress, being spread throughout the room. Together with the hygiene cover, which features welded seams and a waterproof zip on all four sides, Air1 offers a hygienic and safe solution for both patients and staff.
To cater for different patient needs and bed types, we offer the Air1 mattresses in two thicknesses: R7 (18 cm) and R8 (20 cm). Both of these models can be combined to create the solution that best suits your needs.
The Air1 comes with a manual pressure gauge as standard for easy control and adjustment of the air pressure. This feature allows you to customise the mattress to the user’s unique needs and preferences, so you can easily lower or raise the air pressure for personalised comfort. Experience a completely silent sleeping environment – free from the disruptive noise of an electric pump – which helps to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere for the patient.
Air1 S is available when there is a need for additional functionality. Air1 S combines the Air1 mattress (in both R7 and R8 versions) with our quiet and tried-and-tested OC20 air pump. This pump continuously monitors and optimises the air pressure in the mattress, whilst also offering a variable function for enhanced pressure relief. With thousands of installations in operation and very few breakdowns, the OC20 is a reliable component you can count on for stable and effective pressure relief.

STANDARD FOR OBJECTIVE EVALUATION
To obtain an objective assessment of the pressure-relieving properties of mattresses, RISE[1] developed a measurement method where the actual counter-pressure exerted by a mattress is measured using indenters. The measurement method is described in Swedish standard SS 876 00 13.
OptiCell Air1 has been tested by RISE[1] according to measurement method SS 876 00 13 and is pressure-relieving up to and including wound category 4.
