OptiCell Series 2

Air mattresses that support patient safety in day-to-day care

OptiCell Series 2, a pressure-relieving air mattress system developed as an aid for effective pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, up to ulcer category 4.

An effective aid for pressure ulcer care

The system is fitted with an advanced pump that automatically adjusts to the patient’s weight, height and position. The pump has been designed to provide effective pressure relief and personalised care, thereby reducing the risk of shearing and friction.
The comfort function, with six different comfort settings, allows for individual adjustment for each patient, to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers and enhance well-being. The comfort setting can be easily adjusted by staff or the patient to find the most comfortable position possible.

2 key biomechanical properties

The design of the OptiCell Series 2 is based on two key biomechanical properties that are crucial[1] to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers, particularly in patients requiring long-term care who have reduced mobility or sensation.

Principle sketch showing Immersion, where the body's weight causes it to sink into the mattress to allow for pressure distribution.

IMMERSION The mattress features a fully automatic system that adapts to the patient and provides the same low counter-pressure regardless of the user’s weight. This distributes the pressure over a large area, reducing the load on pressure-sensitive points and providing a comfortable sink-in to a depth tailored to the individual.

Embrace

ENVELOPMENT OptiCell Tender's construction adapts to the body's contours, "enveloping" the patient with soft and even support to even out pressure peaks, thereby contributing to calm and stable comfort.

FAQ

How does the mattress’s automatic pressure adjustment work?

The system is fitted with a pump that automatically adjusts the air pressure according to the patient’s specific weight, height and position. This is done to provide even and low counter-pressure regardless of the user’s weight, which optimises immersion and support to reduce the risk of shearing and friction.

Multi-Zone Relief makes it possible to completely eliminate pressure on specific, particularly sensitive areas of the patient’s body. Individual air cells can be deactivated with a simple hand movement, without the need for any tools or physical effort on the part of staff.
